Landscape Crew Leader

 

 

Position Summary:

The Landscape Crew Lead is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of landscaped beds and the thoroughness of lawn services delivered. Paying attention to the detail of the landscaped areas, will be responsible for final inspection of multiple job sites and completion. They are responsible for all phases of the management of truck operations and the staff under his supervision. He must keep the Account Manager(s) informed of all property progress and operations and must be kept up to date with training, and planning.

Key Areas of Rresponsibility

  • Ensure landscaped beds are weed free and clear of any debris, to include weeding and pruning as needed. Weeding will include hand weeding and spray application
  • Drive a designated route to monitor job site quality and ensure the service is being delivered to a high standard
  • Conduct work in a safe manner in compliance with EPA and maintain a safe work area for our Landscape Crews, our clients, the public and the environment
  • Maintaining multiple landscape sites under the guidance of a supervisor
  • Retaining wall construction/Tree Installation / Tree staking/Flower/Plant bed border/edging installation/landscape renovations/Tree and shrub planting/Mulch Installation
  • Training crews on specific job needs, equipment handling, safety issues, maintenance of equipment and various documentation of daily tasks and schedules.
  • Ensure that trucks are inspected regarding onboard inventory and inspection of overall truck condition.
  • Participate in pre-maintenance conference with the Account Manager(s) to be briefed on daily dispatch and property details.
  • Notify Account Manager(s) of any potential problems anticipated or observed.
  • Ensures the security of all tools, equipment, supplies, and materials.
  • Maintain neat and organized housekeeping standards on the job, in company vehicles, lockers and assigned field areas.
  • Adhere to company dress standards and represent the company with a high degree of professionalism.

Education, Experience and Skills Required

  • 2+ years experience required in Grounds Care including knowledge of local plant species 
  • 1 year management experience in related industry
  • Certified Pesticide Applicator License is preferred, but not mandatory. Starting pay will be based on level of experience and accreditation
  • Commercial lawn maintenance and landscape field experience including but not limited to; spreading fertilizer using commercial equipment, using backpack fogging and spraying equipment, is a plus.
  • Must have an extensive knowledge of plant maintenance and grounds care.
  • Know how to properly use of power equipment and hand tools while abiding by OSHA safety regulations.
  • Irrigation Experience preferred

Physical Demand Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, squat, and lift for long periods of time

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record, is required
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Operate heavy duty equipment/Vehicles
