Landscape Grounds Maintenance/Crew Leader

Position Summary: The Landscape Crew Lead is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of landscaped beds and the thoroughness of lawn services delivered. Paying attention to the detail of the landscaped areas, will be responsible for final inspection of multiple job sites and completion. They are responsible for all phases of the management of truck operations and the staff under his supervision. He must keep the Account Manager(s) informed of all property progress and operations and must be kept up to date with training, and planning.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

• Perform routine equipment maintenance including but not limited to cleaning lawn mowers, cleaning crew vehicles, fueling equipment, etc.
• Performs duties as directed by the on-site Crew Lead or designated staff at various customer locations
• Interface, and communicate with customers, vendors and all staff in professional manner delivering exceptional customer service and appearance
• Adhere to safety guidelines when performing work, operating equipment, and handling any hazardous materials
• Enhancing curb appeal and beautifying outdoor spaces
• Responsible for maximizing turf quality using various lawn equipment (e.g., walk behind, stand-on and riders).
• Demonstrates proper edging procedures of lawns and landscape beds using a power edger (e.g., stick edgers).
• Operates a blower correctly and safely around houses, pedestrians, and vehicles.
• Maintains the grounds by collecting trash and debris, and cleaning grass clippings from sidewalks, walkways, and beds.
• Additional team support as needed.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

• Daily communication with management as it relates to the job site schedule
• Conduct work in a safe manner in compliance with MDARD (Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development)
• Certified Pesticide Applicator is preferred but not required (willing to train)
• Commercial lawn maintenance and landscape field experience including but not limited to; spreading fertilizer using commercial equipment
• Using backpack spraying equipment a plus
• Willing to take on additional duties and/or miscellaneous tasks, as needed
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Basic operating knowledge of landscape equipment preferred
• Good customer service skills
• Operating lawn hydraulic, belt driven and zero turn lawn mowers to trim grass.
• Trainable, coachable, and able to grasp new concepts quickly
• Able to work outdoors in different weather conditions

Physical Demand Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the Lawn crew member.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk, bend, stretch, pull or push and lift items.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Other Requirements:

• valid driver license preferred
• Be punctual and reliable
