Day Porter

 

 

Position Summary

The Day Porter will be responsible for performing a range of cleaning and maintenance tasks based on the building's cleaning scope. These tasks include mopping, vacuuming, sweeping, trash removal, handling biohazards, cleaning both interior and exterior areas, polishing surfaces, and glass cleaning. Additional duties may be assigned as needed. The Day Porter will work under the direct supervision of the Property Manager and report to the Supervisor of Day Porters.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Clean and sanitize designated areas such as restrooms, lobbies, offices, and common areas in accordance with the established
    standards and guidelines at assigned location(s)
  • Respond to, prioritize and complete property manager and/or tenant work order requests via work
    order management system at assigned location(s), doing so promptly, and professionally ensuring
    high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and/or scrub floors using appropriate equipment and cleaning
    solutions
  • Empty trash and recycling containers in both interior and exterior areas of assigned
    location(s), transporting waste to designated disposal areas
  • Clean and polish windows, glass partitions, and mirrors in designated areas
  • Conduct routine facility walk-throughs and report findings to appropriate personnel, including
    direct or onsite property manager and/or maintenance staff as applicable
  • Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper in restrooms and other
    designated areas
  • Attend and complete required mandatory meetings and trainings as directed by management
  • Inform appropriate personnel of any identified maintenance issues such as leaks, electrical
    issues, heating or ventilation outages, etc.
  • Assist in light maintenance tasks as needed such as unclogging toilets, tightening screws, and
    replacing light bulbs and batteries
  • Use and operation of cleaning equipment and machinery such as power washer, floor scrubber,
    vacuum, etc.
  • Advise supervisor and property manager of any identified nonconformances and provide possible
    solutions for corrections, making changes or corrections as required
  • Apply operation and maintenance standards outlined in departmental policy and procedure manual
    to ensure safety, efficiency and operational longevity
  • Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, and company directives as it relates to building
    operations to maintain a safe working environment
  • Additional duties and team support as needed

Education, Experience and Skills Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in janitorial services; experience in commercial environment preferred
  • Knowledge of commercial grade chemicals, supplies and equipment
  • Experience using CMMS software such as MRI Work speed, Sage, etc. preferred
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Proficient in the use of technological equipment and software such as Outlook, cellular devices, computers, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently or in a team environment

Physical Demand Requirements

  • Physical requirements include climbing ladders, stooping, standing, bending, stretching and regularly lifting 50 pounds or more
  • Ability to utilize full range of manual dexterity such as sitting, squatting, bending, crawling, kneeling, lifting, climbing, walking, and manipulating tools with limbs extended.

  • Travel as required - likley 5%
  • Valid Driver License preferred
