Sealcoating Crew Leader

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Sealcoating Crew Leader to lead our Exterior Services team in Farmington Hills. This position is responsible for overseeing daily sealcoating operations, ensuring high-quality workmanship, maintaining a safe and organized job site, and leading a crew to complete projects efficiently and on schedule. Position Summary

The Sealcoating Crew Leader is responsible for supervising and participating in all aspects of asphalt maintenance, including sealcoating, crack filling, surface preparation, and pavement repairs. This role requires strong leadership, the ability to operate equipment safely, and excellent communication with both crew members and management.

Key Responsibilities

Crew Leadership

• Lead and supervise a sealcoating crew on commercial asphalt maintenance projects.
• Assign daily tasks and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards.
• Train, mentor, and provide guidance to crew members.
• Monitor employee performance and promote a positive team environment.

Sealcoating & Pavement Maintenance

• Perform and oversee asphalt sealcoating using spray and squeegee (cut-in) application methods.
• Complete crack filling, surface preparation, edging, and general pavement maintenance.
• Inspect job sites to ensure proper preparation and application techniques.
• Ensure projects are completed according to customer expectations and company specifications.

Equipment & Job Site Management

• Operate company trucks, trailers, and sealcoating equipment safely.
• Load, unload, transport, and maintain equipment and materials.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
• Keep trailers, vehicles, and job sites clean, organized, and safe.

Communication & Documentation

• Communicate daily progress, material usage, and project updates with management.
• Complete required paperwork including daily job reports, equipment inspections, and time records.
• Identify job site concerns and recommend solutions when needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-3 years of commercial sealcoating experience
• 1+ year of crew leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Experience with:
  • Asphalt sealcoating
  • Crack filling
  • Surface preparation
  • Pavement maintenance
• Valid Driver's License required
• Chauffeur's License or ability to obtain one preferred
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and motor vehicle background check
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Reliable, self-motivated, and safety-focused

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and lift 50+ lbs.
• Comfortable working extended hours and weekends during peak season
• Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the day
